Of course, that’s a great review after the excellent job you did this past summer at Assöbryggan on Barnens Ö, when 17 buoy chains needed to be replaced, among other things. You did it quickly and professionally, and on the very day that worked best for our operations at Assö Sailing School!

Planning the bouy placement

A well-planned installation is the foundation of a safe and sustainable solution. We start with a site visit where we work with you to review your needs and preferences. We take into account factors such as:

  • The depth at the site is crucial for selecting the buoy and mooring system.
  • How strong the currents are at the site, which can affect how secure the anchoring needs to be.
  • Seabed conditions can also influence the choice of anchoring system.
  • The buoy must be sized to withstand the load it is intended to bear, such as the boat's weight and size.
  • We take the environment into account and ensure that the installation of the buoy does not harm the marine environment.

Choosing a buoy

There are various types of buoys and mooring systems to choose from. We’ll help you choose the right buoy and mooring system for your specific needs.

  • Single buoys: Suitable for smaller boats and sheltered locations.
  • Double buoys: Suitable for larger boats and more exposed locations.
  • Special buoys: Available in various designs for specific needs, such as marking shipping lanes or fishing nets.

Mooring anchor - what should you keep in mind?

The mooring anchor is a critical component of a buoy installation. It serves as the anchor that holds the buoy in place, regardless of weather or wind conditions, and is therefore the foundation of a safe buoy. The choice of anchoring system is crucial for both the safety and the service life of your buoy. Some examples of anchoring systems:

  • Chains and concrete blocks: A common and reliable method.
  • Chain and stone: A cost-effective alternative.
  • Special anchors: Available for specific seabed conditions.

Installation of a buoy

Our installation process is thorough and safe. We use modern equipment and follow strict safety procedures.

  • RWe prepare the site and mark where the buoy will be placed.
  • RWe install the anchoring system, for example, by placing concrete blocks or stones.
  • RWe secure the buoy to the mooring system using a chain or rope.
  • RWe check that the buoy is positioned correctly and that it is securely anchored.
  • RWe document the entire installation process and provide you with a report once the work is complete.

Maintenance and service

To extend the life of your buoy, it is important to perform regular maintenance. Among other things, we can help with:

  • Regular inspection of the buoy, mooring system, and line.
  • Repair of damage to buoys and mooring systems.
  • Replacement of worn parts, such as rope or chain.
